Meet Little Momo & Friends!

Hi! I’m Little Momo!

Momo is a dusky leaf monkey, also known as the spectacled langur which lives high up in the rainforests of Malaysia. The baby monkeys are born bright orange, but they turn grey as they grow up! These gentle monkeys love to munch on leaves and spend their days swinging from tree to tree with their big, bouncy tails.

Fun Facts:

  • Dusky Langurs are highly social and playful, engaging in behaviors like chasing, jumping, and wrestling.

  • Unlike many primates, they are relatively quiet, using body language and soft vocalisations to communicate.

  • In its dark gray body fur, there are white-colored fur patches surrounding its eyes and mouth, like a pair of eyeglasses!

Hi! I’m Tigress!

Tigress is a Malayan tiger - the national animal of Malaysia and is known for its strength and quiet grace. Even though it's a powerful hunter, it prefers to move silently through the jungle. Each tiger has a unique pattern of stripes—just like a human fingerprint!

  • Malayan tigers are the smallest subspecies of tigers, making them a little smaller than other tiger subspecies like the Bengal tiger.

  • Tigers, including Malayan tigers, have antiseptic saliva that helps to protect them from infection during grooming.

  • With a population of only around 80-120 mature individuals left in the wild, Malayan tigers are one of the most endangered subspecies of tigers.

Hi! We’re Gaga & Jaja!

Gaga and Jaja Borneo Pygmy Elephants. They are the smallest subspecies of Asian elephants, famous for the “baby faces” and oversized ears. Their smaller stature allows them to navigate steep riverbanks and dense jungles of Sabah much easier than larger elephants - but don’t let their size fool you. They can still weight up to 2,500 kilograms!

Fun Facts:

  • Unlike most elephants with curved tusks, mature pygmy elephants have exceptionally straight tusks.

  • An adult pygmy elephant must consume about 150 kilograms of vegetation every single day to survive - and their favourite snacks include wild bananas, free tall grass and sweet Malaysian mango

  • They’re also known for their cheeky side, often raiding farms for tasty treats and keeping local farmers on their toes with their playful antics.
